8Bit3D Bathing Ape
The biggest 8bit3D collab ever from Adam Lister + Budmen Industries - 3D printed, hand painted and sent to BAPE® in Japan.
Budmen Industries and the gifted artist Adam Lister have been at the forefront of blending technology with traditional art for nearly a decade. Inspired by a question that still guides their collaborative journey today “What if you could dimensionalize a painting?” their partnership has consistently pushed the boundaries of how art is perceived and experienced.
Adam’s style, known for abstracting famous artworks and cultural figures into 8-bit inspired pixel art, provides a unique canvas that challenges the norms of art. By converting these pixelated visions into three-dimensional sculptures, our collaboration invites audiences to engage with art in transformative ways.
Crafting a Masterpiece for BAPE®
The latest venture in this enduring partnership was a commissioned piece for BAPE®, a titan in streetwear fashion. The challenge was to bring Adam’s static painting to dynamic life. Through detailed CAD designs and meticulous 3D printing, we crafted a 15-inch sculpture that embodies the essence of Adam’s artistic vision.
Artistic and Technical Alchemy
After emerging from the Buildini 3D Printer, the sculpture underwent a rigorous process of filing and sanding, preparing it for the artist’s hand-painting, which added depth and vibrancy to the textured surfaces. This synthesis of digital and traditional crafts was unveiled at BAPE®’s 25th-anniversary celebration in Tokyo, symbolizing a milestone in digital artistry.
This sculpture is not just an art piece; it’s a milestone in our ongoing quest to explore the question that started it all. It stands as a testament to the power of asking “what if?” and pursuing the answers relentlessly.
